Cloud has become the fastest-growing cost category in technology, a trend accelerated by AI. Cloud infrastructure spend reached a $344B run-rate in Q4 2024, up 20% year-over-year, and is expected to exceed $1T by 2030. Hyperscalers are responding with aggressive investment, driving a 51% increase in data center capex in 2024, largely focused on AI-optimized infrastructure. The business model of hyperscalers depends on securing long-term customer commitments, effectively shifting financial risk onto CFOs, many of whom lack the tools and visibility to manage this growing complexity.
